I currently serve as Chief Diversity Officer and Director of Security and Safety for Bentonville Schools. My background includes more than three decades in law enforcement, beginning in Los Angeles where my father was a member of the Los Angeles Police Department. I retired from Bentonville Police where I served on the SWAT team and Hostage Negotiations Team and a School Resource Officer at Bentonville High School.

Cultural competence and inclusivity grew increasingly important to me, both professionally and personally, as I watched the demographics of Northwest Arkansas change. I am Hispanic and proud of my heritage. My grandparents immigrated to Southern California from Mexico. I can remember family gatherings at my grandparents' home with authentic Mexican food and music but also a dad who encouraged me to contribute to the American way of life as I chased my own dreams.

It is my great privilege to work for more than 18,000 students who call Bentonville home.
